Venerable Pannavati, Co-Founder & Co-Abbott of Heartwood Refuge & Retreat Center is a former Christian pastor, today a Buddhist teacher ordained across several major lineages of the Dharma. She was a 2008 recipient of the Outstanding Buddhist Women’s Award and currently serves as Vice President of the US Chapter of the Global Buddhist Association. Venerable has long emphasized both contemplation and compassionate action in her teaching. She advocates on behalf of disempowered people worldwide, insisting also on equality and respect in contemplative life for both female monastics and lay practitioners.
