Community Outreach

At Unity of Nashville, we have many different areas of outreach in the Nashville community that we commit to each year. Three areas of outreach are listed below, Unity Build for Habitat for Humanity, the Animal Ministry and Community Care Ministry (scroll down to learn more).

Unity Build for Habitat for Humanity

Looking for a way to bless our Nashville community?

Volunteer to participate in the 2016 Unity Build!  The Unity Build is a faith-based endeavor comprised of over fifteen different spiritual communities in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville.  Volunteers with the Unity Build will work alongside the family on a Habitat build site to create a loving home for the deserving family.

We are currently accepting donations of food, snacks and drinks.

Please sign up and let us know how you can help.

Animal Ministry

Animal Ministry logoOUR MISSION
We promote compassion, respect and protection of all sentient creatures and advocate for kind treatment of all animals. We accept and embrace our duty, responsibility, and moral obligation to both protect the lives of animals and assure that those lives reflect the respect and dignity they are to be afforded as part of God’s creation.

OUR PURPOSE
Help save the lives and alleviate the suffering of all animals; Provide spiritual support for animals and the people who love them; Advocate for animals; Educate and raise awareness about issues our animals are faced with.

EVENTS

Fill The Bowl– Since July 14, 2013, the Animal Ministry has participated in the Humane Society’s Fill the Bowl Project.  Thanks to your generous donations, we have been able to distribute hundreds of pounds of dog food, cat food and supplies to animals in need in our community. Besides food we collect new and gently used, bowls, leashes, toys, pet beds, blankets / towels, etc. Donation bins are located by the Animal Ministry table each Sunday in Fillmore Hall.

Blessing Of The Animals – The first weekend in October. Join us as we honor and celebrate the pets that “bless” us all year long.

Winter Dog House Drive- We raise money to buy insulated Igloo dog houses for dogs that live outside year round. Our friends at Habitat For Paws distribute the houses and visit regularly to replenish fresh straw and provide warm coats for short haired dogs.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Animal Ministry volunteers assist with projects out in the community, like transporting animals on their way to foster or forever homes as they travel through Middle Tennessee, building fences for perpetually chained dogs, the feral cat spay/neuter project and participating in local related festivals. Some of the organizations we support are Habitat For Paws, Dogs Deserve Better, Pet Community Center (low cost spay/neuter clinic), Sumner County Spay & Neuter, Agape Animal Rescue, Nashville Cat Rescue, Saf-Paw and Proverbs 12:10 Rescue.
